World Nine Ball Championship – Kielce

One day before the start of the 9-ball world championship, an anti-doping training was held for the players. About 80 people gathered in the Targi Kielce Congress Hall. WCBS anti-doping director Marcin Krzemiński provided the main information on the rules for obtaining a temporary permission to use therapeutic use of drugs (TUE – Therapeutic Use Exemption), the database of prohibited substances and methods and the activities of WCBS and partners in the field of anti-doping education. Particularly useful for athletes, clubs and national federations is the cooperation with the National Anti-Doping Agencies (NADO). There, in their native language, those interested can obtain the necessary information needed to safely continue their sports career. As the host of the presentation emphasized, each competitor must remember that they are responsible for their own body. When taking medical products, one needs to check whether they are on the list of prohibited substances. The guests of the training were: the president and vice-president of the World Pool Association Ishuan Singh and Shane Tyree, and the secretary of the WCBS Solidarity Anti-Doping Fund Piotr Stróżyk. The costs of the training were covered by the Polish Billiards Association and the WCBS Fund. The training in Kielce was the second educational campaign of the WCBS Anti-Doping Commission carried out this year. In total, 510 players, coaches and billiard officials were trained within a few months.
